Somsack Sikhounmuong

From styling to creative direction, how did you get your start in the industry?
I was very curious kid with a crazy imagination. I always knew I wanted to do something creative when I grew up. I remember buying my first Vogue -Jan 1990- it was love at first read. It was a world filled with colour, travel and fantasy - I just knew I wanted to be a part of it.

From your travels, what cities would say have the best street style?
Tokyo has always held a soft spot in my heart. It’s beyond inspiring. There are so many different cliques and groups of style and taste. I just love that no matter the group everyone dives in full throttle with everything they've got. From grunge, to Americana to Anime to Goth. It’s all or nothing.
How would you describe your personal style and aesthetic?
Tee and jeans and sneakers kind of guy.

Where do you find your inspiration in New York City?
Love a good bench to just sit and people watch.
Current Soundtrack i.e. musicians / songs
LCD Soundsystem and Prince.

Your advice on closet staples for women
Every woman is so different but I’ve always loved seeing a woman in a pair of well fitting jeans and a blue men’s shirt /tshirt - to me being comfortable and being beautiful go hand in hand
Trends you’d like to see come back? Trends you’d like to disappear?
A huge reason I love fashion is the fact that things come and go and come and go and then come again. What may look not quite right now will somehow look great again in some form.
Any film costumes that have had influenced your eye
Unzipped - how can something you watch monthly not affect your eye!?!
